About

The North Carolina Coalition on Crisis and Alternative Response (NCCCAR) was founded in November of 2024 with the goal of bringing together crisis mental/behavioral health specialists to network, innovate, and build a well-connected crisis continuum across the state.

The Coalition set out to host its first NC Crisis Summit in September of 2025 in Greensboro. Keeping hopes high and expectations moderated, the founding members initiated a grassroots effort to build the inaugural event. Later that year, 165 professionals attended the Inaugural NC Crisis Summit! They represented 63 organizations from 19 NC counties, and 4 other states.

In 2026, NCCCAR formed its first official Board of Directors, expanding the governing body from the founding four members to nine. Current board members represent sectors including crisis management and response, enhanced services, law enforcement, municipal and county government, and community safety.

NCCCAR is currently planning its 2nd Annual NC Crisis Summit for September 2026!

The Logo

The NCCCAR logo consists of 3 elements and 3 colors. The first element is a green outline of a human head with a dogwood flower, the NC state flower, in the place of the brain - an obvious connection to the field of mental health in color and symbolism. The second element is the state of NC in yellow, and the third is the organization name in blue. These colors are affiliated with two universities in Greensboro, NC, where the organization was founded - the UNC Greensboro Spartans and the NC A&T Aggies. Together, these elements form the official NCCCAR logo.

"In my opinion, this conference had much more practical and useful information and presenters [than other conferences]. Overall -    I think you all knocked it out of the park for this inaugural event. The hard part will be besting yourselves next year."

- Police Major, Summit Attendee 2025
